Audi’s mastery of the diesel engine is showcased once again with the TDI version of the Audi Q7. The mighty Audi R10 and R15 has shown the world how a properly tuned diesel can annihilate the most powerful of gasoline engines in racing situations, and the same know-how is Audi’s gift to the planet. Diesel can be a lot cleaner and economical than gas since the engines have a lot more torque at lower rpm which in turn increases the mileage. Over 600 miles from a 26 gallon tank in the Q7, in fact. The Q7 has 220 horsepower from its turbodiesel power plant but the highlight is the 406 lb/ft of torque. Coming to America in a few years’ time, the Q7 will definitely give hybrids the proper competition with regards to the number of trips to the filling stations. $TBA.
