Fuel Vapor Technologies has created a high mileage car called The Alé. (FVT) is a small green British Columbia R&D Technology company specializing in improving the automobile and its impact on the earth. They believe that they can significantly improve fuel economy without sacrificing performance.

History
For the past 2 years FVT has been concentrating on developing a proprietary fuel delivery system and a light-weight, 3-wheeled high performance sports car from the ground up. The alé (allay) is one of very few independently designed vehicles specifically created to demonstrate and test advancements in new automotive technologies.
Accomplishments to date include:
-92 mpg US (2.56 L/100km)
-0-60 in 5 seconds
-1.7 G’s cornering ability
-Voted “Car of the Show” by Speed Channel at SEMA
-Televised on Speed Channel, Discovery Channel, Global TV
-Featured internationally in magazines, news articles, websites and radio shows
Breaking the 100mpg barrier
To date, 92 mpg is the best they have achieved using their fuel vapor system and a standard internal combustion engine. Because their focus is on breaking the 100mpg barrier and winning the Automotive X-PRIZE FVT’s next prototype will be a series hybrid. It will use electric power for most of its time on the road with longer distances being accomplished using a small on-board “range extending “generator running on regular gasoline and our fuel vapor system.
Along with the Tesla Roadster this company is truly proving that fuel efficient cars don’t have to be slow, ugly or unimaginative!!
