The folks over at Cracked.com have put together a list of the Top 6 gas-saving schemes created by “companies” of dubious distinction looking to cash in on the ever-increasing gas prices. The products all claim to produce better gas mileage, and almost all of them require some kind of mechanical alteration to you car.
Egineering marvels I enjoyed especially were the Intake Twister & Tornado Fuel Saver - an engine modification of such questionable legitimacy, engineers at Popular Mechanics were afraid to test it, and the Bio Petro Improver Powder - created by a company that was ultimately shut down by the Texas Attorney General due to outright fraud.
My favorite by far, however, comes in at number 6: Water4Gas. Apparently, with a few well-executed modifications to a jelly jar and some neon-colored party straws, you too can create your own alternative source of fuel!
