My post last week on the ‘59 Chevy crash test (as well as other posts on the topic by every blog from here to Timbuktu) caused quite a commotion. It even caused one fella to quit reading this blog in a huff, and garnered more heated responses than our typical posts. So that means it’s time for another Open Diff post.
You don’t necessarily have to talk about safety in the comments on this post. As with all our Open Diff posts, feel free to speak your mind on any issue related to the collector car hobby. Safety is just the suggested topic this time. You already know my opinion on the matter, so if you haven’t already, tell us yours. Or tell us why motorcycles and convertibles – vintage or not – do or don’t apply to these arguments. Should seat belts (airbags, blindspot monitoring systems, etc.) be retrofitted to all classic cars? Would we all be better off today if the Sir Vival had entered production? Or should we here at Hemmings not bring up weighty issues like this and go back to reveling in nostalgia?
