From SPIKE : “The 7 Worst Ways To Mod Your Car”

Enjoyed for the inclusion of truck nuts and cheap intake mods, posted for Bradiger’s eloquence: “This is the automotive equivalent of having ‘I’m an asshat’ tattooed on your forehead.” What can I say? I’m a sucker for a perfectly-timed vulgarity.

“Since the advent of the automobile, there have always been those among us who feel the need to take the design of a vehicle and go a step further. Some do it for speed, some for handling, and some simply for style. For many auto enthusiasts, their ride is an extension of their own personality – a window into their soul. And that’s where things can get a bit dodgy. Some people, well… their souls just weren’t that well thought-out.”

The result? Neon underglows, rhinestone’d mud flaps, and spinners, to name a few. So think of this as a public service announcement…here are the 7 worst ways to modify your car.”

Suburban Hot Rods: ‘41 Willys Coupe with a 426 Hemi

Yesterday, I was at the supermarket picking up some delicious Labor Day foods, and on my way out I heard a loud, lovely, harmonious sound coming from way over yonder. Luckily I had my camera with me.

It was a very pretty ‘41 Willys Coupe with a beautiful 426 Hemi elephant. That’s a lot of engine for a little coupe. I only wish I had a chance to see it go fast.
Thanks to Al Davis Jr. and his dad for letting me take pics of their beautiful car.

Chrysler Announces Possible Sale of Dodge Viper Line, We Feel Faintly Nauseous

Chrysler LLC reported this morning that it might consider selling off the Dodge Viper. As quoted by Auto News, Chrysler explained that “This strategic review comes as the Company focuses on enhancing its core business and leveraging its assets.” Or, in other words, Chrysler LLC is up a fiduciary creek without a sales profit paddle. Obviously recognizing the similarity to GM’s earlier despicable cut-and-run behavior with their HUMMER line, Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli was quick to explain the new decision as merely an exploration of options. “We have been approached by third parties who are interested in exploring future possibilities for Viper,” he said. Nardelli further explained that while Chrysler as agreed to listen to what the aforementioned “third parties” have to say, they “…will do so keeping in mind the best interests of those who have shown tremendous support for the vehicle - including employees, suppliers, dealers, and a worldwide group of loyal Viper owners and enthusiasts.”

10 to 1 the “third parties” are foreign, and double or nothing it’s China.

The Ariel Atom brings buggy grins to all who drive it

Ariel Atom 300 Supercharged

If you were a kid with a go-kart bumblin down the neighborhood street and had any imagination at all the Ariel Atom would be what you would pretend you were driving. Some might compare it to a four-wheeled race bike, but with its two-seats and a steering wheel it is more likely the ultimate race-kart.

The light weight frame and carbon tub of the Ariel Atom is powered by a super-charged 300-hp engine that is based off the Chevy Cobalt engine. All those horses driving the mere 1400 pounds that makes up the Atom gives the car a rocket-like feel at acceleration. There is no steer-assist so every little bit of the road is communicated right up the rack-and-pinion suspension and up through the steering wheel.

Take the leap over to MotorTrend to watch a video test drive of the Ariel Atom. It the video does not make your palms itch for the wheel or your feet twitch for the feel of the accelerator you might want to check your pulse. Or maybe you prefer knitting… no that there is anything wrong with that. Knit me a scarf for the track.
