If you were a kid with a go-kart bumblin down the neighborhood street and had any imagination at all the Ariel Atom would be what you would pretend you were driving. Some might compare it to a four-wheeled race bike, but with its two-seats and a steering wheel it is more likely the ultimate race-kart.
The light weight frame and carbon tub of the Ariel Atom is powered by a super-charged 300-hp engine that is based off the Chevy Cobalt engine. All those horses driving the mere 1400 pounds that makes up the Atom gives the car a rocket-like feel at acceleration. There is no steer-assist so every little bit of the road is communicated right up the rack-and-pinion suspension and up through the steering wheel.
Take the leap over to MotorTrend to watch a video test drive of the Ariel Atom. It the video does not make your palms itch for the wheel or your feet twitch for the feel of the accelerator you might want to check your pulse. Or maybe you prefer knitting… no that there is anything wrong with that. Knit me a scarf for the track.
